Filing history is the dated record of every document a company has submitted to Companies House.

Every company’s filing history is a chronological list of the statutory documents it has submitted — accounts, confirmation statements, changes of officers, mortgage charges, changes of registered office, and more. It is public, and it is one of the richest sources of insight into how a company is being run.
The pattern matters as much as the individual documents. Filings made consistently and on time suggest a company that is being administered properly; overdue accounts, gaps, or a sudden flurry of changes can each be worth a closer look. The filing history is where you see a company’s life story unfold document by document.
Some filings are especially significant. A charge (mortgage) registered against the company shows a lender has taken security; the appointment of an administrator or liquidator marks an insolvency event; a change of registered office or a raft of director changes can signal a restructuring or a change of ownership.
Due-diligence researchers scan the filing history for red flags — overdue accounts, recently registered charges, or repeated late filings — before recommending a company as a supplier or partner.
Each company profile shows recent filing history, and the regularity and nature of filings inform the Trading Signals score, giving a quick read without reading every document by hand.
