Data subject rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have specific rights over personal data we hold about you. This page tells you what those rights are, how to exercise them, and how quickly we'll respond. For the broader privacy framework, see our Privacy Policy.
Your rights at a glance
- Access (Art. 15) — you can ask for a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification (Art. 16) — you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure (Art. 17) — you can ask us to delete your data. Account holders can do this themselves at /account/delete.
- Restriction (Art. 18) — you can ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved.
- Portability (Art. 20) — you can ask for your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection (Art. 21) — you can object to certain types of processing, including the appearance of your name on one of our
/company/[number]landing pages. - Automated decisions (Art. 22) — you can object to decisions made about you by automated means. Note that Trading Signals is descriptive of public records, not a regulated automated decision affecting individuals.
Removing personal data from a /company/[number] page
Our company-profile pages mirror information published by Companies House under their Open Government Licence. The pages may include officer (director, secretary, PSC) names, appointment dates, and month/year of birth as published by Companies House.
If you are an officer named on one of these pages and you wish your appearance removed from our index (we cannot remove your record from Companies House itself — that's outside our control), email [email protected] with:
- The full URL of the affected page
- The name as it appears on the page
- A brief reason — e.g. “I am the named officer and object under Art. 21 to inclusion on third-party indexes”
We'll need to verify your identity (matching your name to the Companies House record is usually sufficient) and then suppress your appearance on our pages. Suppression is by default permanent; we maintain a small allow-list of suppressed names so future refreshes don't reintroduce you.
Note that suppression on Company Shark has no effect on what Companies House itself publishes at find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk. If you want to amend or remove your data at source, that has to go through Companies House directly.
How to make a request
Email [email protected]from the email address on your account where possible. State the right you're exercising (e.g. “Article 15 access” or “Article 17 erasure”) and any details we'll need to identify you and the data in question.
If you don't have an account with us but you appear on one of our /company/[number] pages as an officer, see the section above for the specific process.
Our response timeline
We respond to all valid requests within one calendar month, in line with UK GDPR Art. 12. If a request is unusually complex we may extend that by up to two further months — we'll tell you within the original month if we need to do so, and explain why.
There's no fee for the first request. We reserve the right to charge a reasonable administrative fee, or refuse, where requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive (e.g. repeated identical requests). This is the same standard the ICO applies.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
ICO — ico.org.uk
Helpline: 0303 123 1113
We'd ask you to raise the issue with us first so we can try to resolve it directly — but you have the right to go to the ICO at any time.
